Fact: Research supports the notion that when households go through mediation rather than a waged custody fight in court, children tend to have far better long-term relationships with both parents. What is behind this? As parents sort out an arrangement in mediation, it is often a time when both parties confront the fact that they will have got an ongoing connection as parents. It is also an possibility for spouses to realize that when it will come to the kids, they can be on the same side: putting their children first.
